The 2026 Thai Durian and Food Culture Festival Successfully Concludes

The 2026 Thai Durian and Food Culture Festival was held simultaneously in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Changsha from June 6th to 21st. This event was jointly organized by the Royal Thai Embassy, the Embassy’s Agriculture Affairs Office, the Royal Thai Consulate General in Guangzhou, the Consulate General’s Business Office and Agriculture Office, the Royal Thai Consulate General in Kunming, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Thai Chamber of Commerce in China, local government departments at all levels, CP Group and its CPFresh CP Thai Durian brand, Beijing Poly Plaza, Xiangshi, and other brands.
This event adopted an innovative model of collaboration among three cities, using Thai durian as a bridge and food culture as a link to build a broad platform for China-Thailand economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges. It played a positive role in deepening agricultural trade cooperation between the two countries, promoting regional consumption upgrading, and facilitating mutual learning between cultures, injecting new vitality into the construction of a community with a shared future for China and Thailand and helping bilateral relations to continuously reach new heights.
Beijing
On June 13th, the opening ceremony for the Beijing leg of the 2026 Thai Durian and Food Culture Festival was held at Beijing Poly Plaza. Mr. Chatchai Viriyavejakul, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to China, Mr. Phatthakorn Tanmanee, Minister Counsellor at the Royal Thai Embassy’s Agriculture Affairs Office, Ms. Suneerat Rujeemart, Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Beijing Office, Mr. Yang Senyuan, CFO of CP Group China, Mr. Yang Gang, Vice Chairman of CP Group China's Agro-Industry and Food Business, and Mr. Yin Rengui, Head of Food Sales and Retail Business Management of CP Group Guangdong and Hunan Regions and co-founder of CP Fresh, attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Chatchai Viriyavejakul expressed his honor to attend the event. He pointed out that durian, known as the "King of Thai Fruits," was deeply loved by Chinese consumers. The friendly relations between China and Thailand had a long history. Last year, the two countries jointly celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and fruitful results had been achieved in agricultural and economic cooperation. CP Group had always been committed to promoting bilateral exchanges between China and Thailand. He expressed his gratitude to the Group for simultaneously holding the Durian Festival in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Changsha, providing consumers with the opportunity to taste Thai durian. Thai durian was not only a delicious fruit, but also a "taste of friendship" connecting the hearts of the people of both countries. He praised the Thai durian and invited everyone to taste the Thai durian on-site and experience Thai culture.

Mr. Phatthakorn Tanmanee expressed his honor in attending the event. He pointed out that this year's Durian Festival was held simultaneously in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Changsha, which fully demonstrated the vigorous development of the agricultural trade between China and Thailand. In 2025, China imported over 1.86 million tons of fresh durian, with Thailand accounting for approximately 49% of the market share. This success was attributed to strict quality management and food safety standards. He thanked all parties for their support, wished the event a complete success, and hoped that the friendship and cooperation between China and Thailand would continue to deepen.

Mr. Yang Gang stated that as the first foreign-invested enterprise to enter mainland China after the reform and opening up, CP Group had adhered to the business philosophy of "benefit the country, benefit the people, benefit the company" for over a century, and committed to promoting exchanges regarding agriculture, animal husbandry, food, and culture between China and Thailand. The Durian Festival had become a representative brand event of the Group, with a durian connecting the friendship between the two countries. Guangzhou
On June 6th, the 2026 Thai Durian Festival Guangzhou leg kicked off at the main venue, CP Lotus Sanyuanli Store in the Baiyun District. Attendees included Mr. Kajtiti Wiwatwanont, Consul General of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Guangzhou, Mr. Zhou Jun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Baiyun District Committee of the CPC and Executive Chief Executive, District Government, Mr. Li Wenhai, Vice President of CP Group, and others from relevant parties.

Changsha
On June 12th, the 2026 Thail Durian Festival Changsha leg opened at the plaza in front of the CP Lotus Xingsha Store. Attendees included Ms. Bhavivarn Noraphallop, Consul General of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Kunming, Mr. Wang Donghua, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Mr. Yin Rengui, Head of Food Sales and Retail Business Management of CP Group Guangdong and Hunan Regions and co-founder of CP Fresh, and others from relevant parties.

This year's event was packed with highlights. The three cities revolved around sections such as durian buffet, Thai market, cultural performances, interactive games, and online activities.
